FOOD : Harry Potter Afternoon Tea, Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh

Chocolate Frogs, Fizzing Whizzbees, Bertie Bott’s Every Flavour Beans or Cauldron Cakes? or Jelly Slugs, Pepper Imps, Sugar Quills and Exploding Bonbons? downed with a pint of Butterbeer? The Wizarding World is filled with foodie treats.

With JK Rowling penning Harry Potter in Edinburgh; Peacock Alley sounding like it runs adjacent to Diagon Alley, and the locomotive links between Hogwarts Express and the hotel itself; it’s little surprise that the Caledonian Waldorf Astoria Edinburgh adapted the Harry Potter Theme and created The Wonderful World of Wizardry Afternoon Tea.

HARRY POTTER AFTERNOON TEA AT WALDORF ASTORIA, EDINBURGH

Now unfortunately, this Afternoon Tea has sold out and they’ve been so overwhelmed by orders that currently Afternoon Tea deliveries have been put on hold, but when they do resume, you’d be a fool not to indulge in this delightful decadent afternoon activity, as it is simply one of the best Afternoon Tea’s delivered straight to your door for you to enjoy at home, at your leisure.

Delivered straight to your door, two black and white branded Waldorf Astoria packages arrive. One, a bag containing a bottle of Laurent Perrier Champagne and the other, a box containing the Afternoon Tea.

Cleverly packaged, you lift the Afternoon Tea stand from the box as you slowly reveal tier after tier of sweet and savoury cakes, pasties, sandwiches and scones.

The Golden Snitch is masquerading as a Green Apple Mousse on a Cinnamon Biscuit; Hedwig Owl hides the delights of a Pistachio Religieuse; in the Cauldron’s depths you’ll find White Chocolate and Passion Fruit Delice, whilst the Sorting Hat tells you its a Cherry Tea Cake.

Savouries don’t disappoint and equally match the creativity and taste of the sweet treats. Prawn Marie Rose, Smoke Salmon and Caviar on a brioche bun; Onion Tart with pickled celery, walnut and blue cheese and Smoked Duck, rocket, cucumber and coriander wraps to name a few.

The scones aren’t ordinary either - Chocolate and Orange with fresh cream and raspberry jam.

A selection of organic teas too but its really the Champagne you wanna pop.

This is an incredible Afternoon Tea. You’ll sit for hours with a smile on your face and wish you had a wand to hand when you’re finished so that you could make it all reappear again.

The Afternoon Tea is £99 for two people which includes a bottle of champagne. Do keep an eye on their website as they will be offering Afternoon Tea again soon.

I was invited to review The Caledonian Waldorf Astoria Afternoon Tea. The Afternoon Tea was complimentary but the views are very much my own.
