REVIEW : EAT - Tasty Basket, Edinburgh

Do you find yourself wanting to support local but sometimes find it an absolute mission to either visit all their small independent shops or numerous online shops? Do you find yourself ordering items here and there as you want to support local but still end up at your local supermarket because it’s just easier to get everything in one go?

REVIEW : EAT - Tasty Basket, Online grocery shop, Edinburgh

Tasty Basket have the solution. They are a grocery delivery service that supports local businesses whilst offering you the convenience of large supermarket ordering systems. You can purchase everything from basic household items to larder goods such as pasta and baked beans to fresh produce from your local butcher, baker, fishmonger, dairy and brewery!

You order it all online, choose your delivery slot (like any large supermarket website), check out and boom, your goods come to your door!

Tasty Basket launched in January and is quickly evolving, taking on new local suppliers every week. The pricing structure ensures the customer will always pay less for local than through other retailers.

Some of the produce available from local suppliers including I.J. Mellis, The Fishmongers, Charles Stamper, James Anderson & Charles Wilson Butchers, Pilot Beer and Breadwinner Bakery.

I tried out Tasty Basket and was so impressed by their range of goods and the ease at which you could buy things. Delivery was spot on and brought right to my front door.

The food delivered was high quality and fresh. Not only did I manage to make 2 dinners for two from this, but several lunches and additions to most meals during the week.

My basket contained the following incredible produce: Fish from Welchs Fishmongers, Vegetables and Herbs from Charles Stamper.

  • Seatrout Fillets

  • Hot Smoked Salmon

  • Cod Fillet

  • Tarragon

  • Lemons

  • Fennel

  • Tomatoes (Cherry Vine)

  • Chives

There was so much more food I could easily have purchased. The amazing range of cheeses from IJ Mellis, the butter from Edinburgh Butter Co, all the breads and cakes from Breadwinner Bakery and Bon Accord drinks.

Tasty Basket are located in Edinburgh and use Edinburgh based local businesses and community.

There is a minimum order of £25.00. Delivery is £3.99 but free with orders over £60. Delivery area : EH1- EH25.
