Five new Scottish food and drink producers have been announced in the run-up to the fifth Edinburgh Food Festival taking place in Assembly George Square Gardens from 19th to 28th July 2019.
Edinburgh’s only city centre food festival will be showcasing a range of international cuisine through a diverse and unique range of producers and street food stall holders, who will be serving up some of Scotland’s best contemporary food and drink.
Topping the list of new producers is FacePlant Foods who recently took places in Scotland’s British Street Food Award Finals. FacePlant Foods started as one of Scotland’s first plant-based street food trucks and now travels around Scotland selling their vegan goods.
Edinburgh Food Festival will also be welcoming Mana Poke with their super fresh and vibrant Hawaiian street food. The heathy bowls comprising of diced raw fish, rice and a range of colourful accompaniments have graced street-food markets across Scotland for over a year and developed a loyal following of customers.
Next in the line-up is Edinburgh’s Pickerings Gin serving up their award-winning gin in their miniature Japanese airport fire engine, EnGINe 47. They will be keeping festival goers refreshed with their range of cocktails as well as the classic Pickerings gin and tonic.
Adding to the line-up is Fox Hat, a BBQ experience like no other, serving the finest meat and produce with a true nose-to-tail philosophy. Their communal and collaborative way of cooking has won the hearts of many foodies across Scotland.
Rounding off the five new producers is the social enterprise community café, Punjabi Junction. Punjabi Junction offers a blend of traditional Punjab and home-cooked cuisines, whilst supporting women from Edinburgh minority ethnic backgrounds.
Alex Fitzhowle, Edinburgh Food Festival festival producer said: Owe want to make sure that we have a range of food and drink stalls that offer something for everyone, have great sourcing policies and are a true reflection on Scotland’s amazing culinary scene. That is why we are so excited to introduce our top five new producers for 2019. Each offers some really exciting food and drink and are a valuable addition to the festival.
