Situated in Edinburgh’s Fountain Park area, The Fountain is a popular bar for families, locals and visitors which serves up a menu showcasing local produce. The venue is also much-loved by the canine community and has been recognised as one of Scotland’s top dog-friendly restaurants.
All money raised at the event will be donated to Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home who will be coming along to get involved in the fun. The charity, which was founded in 1883 is one of Scotland's oldest animal welfare organisations and works to look after lost or abandoned pets from all corners of Edinburgh and the Lothians.
The Fountain will be serving complimentary tea, coffee and cake from Glutteny in return for a donation to the charity. Glutteny are an Edinburgh based bakers that are committed to providing excellent quality homemade cakes that are gluten-free and made using locally sourced ingredients. There will also be dog-friendly treats and goodie bags from Dofos for four-legged guests.
For those looking to get active, there will be a mini obstacle course that will test the obedience of owners and dogs alike. Jennifer McKay from Pet Portraits Scotland will also be on hand to sketch those who have been preened to perfection at the Star Dogs grooming station. There will also be the opportunity to take part in a raffle with prizes ranging from a pet portrait, dog hampers, dining experiences at The Fountain and much more.
General Manager of The Fountain, Jamie Napier said: “We’re very proud to be a dog-friendly venue and it’s great to hold this morning in aid of Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home. It’s going to be an opportunity to have lots of fun, enjoy some great coffee and cake and support the fantastic work of the charity. We’d like to say a big thank you to all of our customers and partners for getting involved.”
Edinburgh Dog and Cat Home Community Fundraiser, Kelly Barbour added: “We’re so excited to support this new event at The Fountain, and massively appreciate the work they are putting in to help raise vital funds for the dogs and cats at the Home. We look forward to working with The Fountain to make the event a success and hope to see lots of dogs (and humans) on the day!”
