Step onto the gorgeous pebbled beach, just 40 meters from our hotel (read my full review HERE), and wander along the esplanade, where the warm evening air is filled with the aroma of grilling seafood and spices. This bustling promenade is lined with authentic Greek restaurants and bars, serving up everything from souvlaki and Greek salads to succulent lamb chops, tender pork, and of course, the finest fish and shellfish.

Fish Tavern Patouras is a seafood lover’s paradise, where the catch of the day dictates the menu. Freshness is key, with dishes reflecting the best of the season’s haul—whether it’s seafood linguine, grilled or fried fish, sardines, crab salad, lobster, seafood risotto, or tender calamari. Lucky for us, we had Greek-speaking friends who knew exactly what to order, and they went all in, ensuring we sampled the very best this coastal gem had to offer!
FRESH LOCALLY SOURCED INGREDIENTS
We indulged in a seafood feast fit for the gods, starting with buttery, melt-in-the-mouth squid and perfectly stuffed squid, bursting with flavour. Next came big, fat, juicy prawns, sweet and succulent, alongside a classic Greek salad, loaded with fresh tomatoes, feta, and olives. Warm garlic bread and creamy tzatziki made for the perfect accompaniments, while seasonal greens, velvety mash, and crisp golden chips kept things hearty. The grilled octopus, smoky and tender, was a true highlight, paired beautifully with roasted peppers drizzled in silky olive oil. Every bite was a celebration of fresh, simple, and authentic Greek flavours!
WHY YOU SHOULD VISIT PATOURAS FISH TAVERN
As the sun slipped beyond the horizon, its fiery glow softened into candy pinks and dusky blues, painting the sky in a final, breath-taking flourish before night took over. By then, we'd worked our way through plate after plate of seafood delights, and while our stomachs protested that they'd had their fill, there’s always room for orange cake and a cheeky banana liqueur—because, well, there just is!
For me Fish Tavern Patouras is a true gem in Xylokastro, offering a seaside dining experience that perfectly captures the essence of Greek hospitality. With its fresh, seasonal seafood, stunning sunset views, and welcoming atmosphere, it’s the kind of place where every meal feels like a celebration. Whether you’re indulging in perfectly grilled fish, rich seafood risotto, or crisp calamari, each dish is a testament to the restaurant’s dedication to quality and tradition.
