SHOWTIME : Drag Queen Wine Tasting - back for Fringe 2023

The critically-acclaimed, ‘Drag Queen Wine Tasting’, returns to Edinburgh Fringe, August 9-27, and this year, the raucous, scintillating affair takes place at the stylish surrounds of Monboddo @ Hilton, Bread Street. This “alternative” wine tasting is hosted by Irish sommelier, Beth Brickenden and Scottish Drag Queen, Vanity Von Glow.

DRAG QUEEN WINE TASTING IS BACK AT THE 2023 FRINGE

Last year at their Fringe debut saw them pour 3,000 glasses of wine for over 1,000 audience members at MONO restaurant.

The show sees the salacious duo guide wine lovers and revelers through three wines and paired food all dished up with a good ol sing song.

TartanSpoonie, Lotte, went along to catch up the show pre Fringe at the Leith Festival. Her verdict is ‘the show is a barrel of laughs, that will keep you laughing all the way through. Vanity von Glow is superb and manages to capture and wrap the audience around her little finger for the duration’

There’s some singalong classics from Tina Turner to Abba to a little bit of Celine. Everyone will know the words or at least the chorus and the more wine you drink, the more you can make up the words.

As for the wine and food pairing - its not Michelin Star but expect a fair few glasses to swig back along with something on stick! It’s definitely the witty wine banter and wise craics you come for!

Beth and Vanity have an excellent stage presence and their strong patter, ability to keep the conversation flowing no matter what and the reading of a room, is what makes this a show not to be missed!
