Best Donuts in Edinburgh: Top Picks from TartanSpoon’s Food Blog
Two years ago, I penned a blog post celebrating Edinburgh’s modest but mighty donut scene (I’m going to call them Donuts as it seems to be the most popular way of writing it!). Back then, options were slim. Fast forward to today, and I’m thrilled to report we’ve now got eight standout shops slinging seriously good donuts across the city.
TartanSpoon’s Picks: The Best Donuts in Edinburgh and Beyond
Sure, Edinburgh boasts some phenomenal bakeries - think Lannan, Mòr, and Twelve Triangles among them, but most stick to pastries and sourdough, steering clear of the pillowy world of deep-fried dough. Donuts, though, have quietly staged a comeback, and they now come in all shapes and styles:
Classic ring donuts – light, golden, and often glazed or dusted with sugar.
Filled doughnuts – soft, round doughballs bursting with jam, custard, or cream.
Cruffins and hybrid bakes – croissant-meets-doughnut creations with layered texture and bold fillings.
My personal favourite? The fluffy, cloud-like doughballs stuffed to the brim with lush, velvety filling. Bite into one and it oozes at the edges in the most satisfying way. The toppings whether crushed biscuits, freeze-dried fruit, or a drizzle of glaze, add texture and flair without overpowering the star of the show.
So lets run down, in no particular order the BEST DONUT shops in Edinburgh
