DRINK : X Muse Scottish Barley Vodka

Its beautiful. Sleek. Elegant and a bottle you want to touch. You want to run your fingers down the side of the edges and follow each curve in the crescent shape around the side of the bottle.

NEW SCOTTISH BARLEY VODKA

If you’ve wandered the grounds at Jupiter Artland, you’d guess right in that it reminds you of Cells of Life landform designed by Charles Jenks for Jupiter Artland is X Muse’s spiritual home. It’s here that the aquifer, the source of the water to make the vodka is located but it is also the where the inspiration for the name can be found. X Muse (pronounced Tenth Muse), took its inspiration from Scottish artist Ian Hamilton Finlay’s 2008 X Muse sculpture.

This blended barley vodka is pure and supremely clear. The bottle really enhances the crystal clarity of the vodka. Maris Otter and Plumage Archer barley varieties are distilled separately, then combined with the addition of the purest Scottish water to produce a luxurious vodka with a rich, deep character.

It’s a very soft vodka with none of that initial alcohol hit on the nose. I pick up hints of chocolate and some zest. On the palate its very smooth, quite creamy with hints of vanilla.

Suggestions is to serve it over ice or in a cocktail. In honour of it being National Cocktail Day today, I made an Appletini and I have to say this vodka works exceptionally well in a cocktail.
