Fogo De Chao Edinburgh - Indulgent Churrasco Dinner & Brazilian Dining Experience
Edinburgh has no shortage of restaurants promising theatre, indulgence and spectacle, but Fogo de Chão arrives with a confidence that feels almost cinematic. Located on the west end of George street, it’s the kind of place that pulls in tourists and locals alike, the gleam of the interiors, the scale of the dining room, the promise of endless churrasco carved tableside. It’s a bar and restaurant all in one, open from 12noon until late, seven days a week, and it wears that versatility proudly.
We visited for the Indulgent Churrasco Dinner at £77 per person, a price point that sets expectations sky‑high. And to be fair, the setting helps justify the anticipation: the sophisticated, softly glowing bar sets the tone the moment you walk in, all polished surfaces, amber light and that subtle, seductive shimmer that makes the whole space feel alive. Beyond it, private dining rooms offer a more secluded kind of luxury, each one cocooned in warmth and designed for long, lingering meals. Then there’s the vast, cavernous main dining room, a space that somehow manages to feel both grand and intimate. Despite its scale, it wraps around you with a cosy ease, capturing the spirit and generosity of South American dining, that sense of welcome, abundance and genuine hospitality that makes you want to settle in and stay a while.
For those that don’t know, Churrasco is a traditional Brazilian style of barbecue where a variety of meats are cooked over open flames and served continuously throughout your meal. At Fogo de Chão, this becomes a full dining experience: gaucho style servers move from table to table with skewers of freshly grilled beef, lamb, pork and chicken, carving slices directly onto your plate. It’s abundant, theatrical and rooted in the South American spirit of generosity where you’re invited to try a little of everything, at your own pace, until you’ve had your fill.
The system is simple and surprisingly elegant. Each guest receives a small table mat with two sides: green signals that you’re ready for more, and gauchos will stop by with the next cut of meat; red means you’re taking a break or you’ve finished, and service pauses. It’s an intuitive rhythm that lets you control the flow of the meal, whether you want to savour each cut slowly or dive into the full churrasco parade.
The Indulgent Churrasco Dinner at Fogo de Chão is designed as the most luxurious version of their signature experience. It includes full access to the Market Table which is a generous centrepiece filled with salads, grains, charcuterie, cheeses and Brazilian sides; along with the continuous tableside service of churrasco meats carved by gaucho chefs. What sets this tier apart is the addition of premium dishes that elevate the evening into something more decadent. For Edinburgh, that includes Snow Crab Cluster served with spiced melted butter, Queen Scallops tossed in Wagyu tallow, Baerii Caviar or the the butter‑bathed lobster tail drenched in garlic butter, which we ordered, all standout dishes that add richness and theatre to the meal. You can also pick from their complimentary dishes like sweet potato crisps, parmesan and truffle fries and sides, and order additional dishes from their shareable sides like Fugazzeta, Lobster Mac n Cheese and Beef Rib Croquettes, which round out the experience with warmth and authenticity.
The format is simple and intuitive: you control the pace between the Market Table, the premium dishes and the parade of meats without ever feeling rushed. The Indulgent Churrasco Dinner is built around abundance, choice and spectacle, offering a full South American feast with a few luxurious flourishes that make it feel special.
Before the parade of meats began, we made a gentle start at the Market Table. It’s a colourful, abundant spread of salads, grains, charcuterie, pickled vegetables, cheeses, and Brazilian sides that feel both homely and celebratory. We tucked into grilled asparagus, fresh chunks of parmesan right out the cheese wheel, large juicy olives and pasta salad, paired it with a Caipirinha, their citrus forward signature cocktail acting as a flavour bridge - Brazilian sunshine that makes every plate taste sharper, fresher and more alive.
The Market Table is one of those moments where you could easily overdo it, but pacing is key; the real show is still waiting in the wings.
The churrasco service brings 14 seasonal cuts of fire‑grilled meat directly to your table in a steady, theatrical rhythm. Expect an abundant rotation of beef, lamb, pork and chicken: from signature picanha and ribeye to rump, fillet, pork sausage, fraldinha, and parmesan pork; alongside chicken thighs, and the traditional chicken hearts. Each cut arrives sizzling, aromatic and carved to your preferred doneness, creating a feast that’s rich, smoky, juicy and deeply rooted in the South American tradition of generosity. And for those who prefer a break from meat, two vegetarian offerings shine just as brightly: Brazilian grilled cheese, served warm and lightly caramelised, and roasted pineapple with cinnamon, sweet, fragrant and utterly irresistible.
The cuts we tried cooked medium rare as per our request - picanha (our favourite), lamb, fillet, chicken thighs, ribeye and rump were beautifully seasoned, smoky from the grill, and full of bold, savoury flavour.
One of the many highlight’s for me was the butter‑bathed lobster tail, drenched in garlic butter and served as part of the premium dinner experience. Sweet, tender, and dripping with garlicky richness, it felt decadent in the best possible way.
To pair with our Churrasco we chose the Miolo Pint Noir, the bright acidity and low tannins made it a surprisingly versatile partner for grilled meats. Its red‑fruit freshness cut through the richness of beef and lamb, while its gentle oak and spice notes complemented smoky, fire‑kissed flavours, a natural fit for churrasco’s rotating parade of grilled cuts. Because Miolo’s expression is medium‑bodied and velvety rather than heavy or tannic, it didn’t overpower leaner meats, and its subtle earthiness worked well with sides like farofa, grilled vegetables, and chimichurri.
Dessert ends the experience on a sweet, playful note, and we leaned fully into the South American classics. We chose the Brazilian sweet treats, a selection of six petit fours that arrive as colourful little bites. They’re small, delicate and perfect for sharing, offering a gentle contrast to the richness of the churrasco. Alongside them, the Tres Leches Cake delivered that unmistakable indulgence: a soft, soaked sponge saturated with condensed milk, topped with a whisper of cinnamon that warmed each bite. Light yet decadent, it was the kind of dessert that rounded off the meal with comfort and sweetness, without tipping us over the edge.
I have to give a special mention about the service - it was excellent throughout. Our server was warm, attentive and genuinely enthusiastic, striking that perfect balance between friendly and professional. The Gaucho servers all smiles and patience. Fogo de Chão Edinburgh delivers a luxurious, theatrical night out with moments of real brilliance. For a special occasion or a treat‑yourself evening, it earns its place as one of the best on the city’s dining map.
